Bethany Tayla Woods / age 6 / East Anglia Children's Hospices

My name is Bethany Tayla Woods and I am six years old.

I was born with a condition called Merosin Negative Congenital Muscular Dystrophy. This means that my muscles are not producing the protein that they need to build me up and make me strong, so I am not able to walk. However, I like to use my electric wheelchair to get about.

I have been coming to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices in Ipswich for about two and a half years now. I have a lot of fun and am very busy when I visit there.

I love to paint and I have painted myself as a princess, just like Cinderella. She is my favourite princess and I want to be like her. I used a golden blonde yellow colour for my hair and I mixed red and white colours for my face. As well as painting, I also love to do lots of activities such as playing hide and seek, playing with play dough, dressing up, doing pretend play and I really enjoy making pretend meals for the staff using the toy kitchen. Sometimes I have Music Therapy with Ray and I regularly have outreach at home.

I have made lots of friends at the hospice and look forward to my visits.

SOLD by auction on 5 December 2007
