!Current News Update - 27 Jan 08!
Bethany has not been able to attend school for quite some time; but is hoping to resume soon. During the time while she has been out of school Bethany has been fortunate enough to have a very nice home tutor for a few hours each week. Bethany enjoys being taught so this has been very beneficial to her. Naturally she misses her school friends but because she has had fairly long bouts of illness she has had to either stay at home or has been hospitalised.
In 2007 the whole family had the pleasure of a trip to London courtesy of the ‘'Make a Wish Foundation''. Bethany got to meet ‘' Cinderella'', take a trip on the London Eye, visited the Aquarium and Madam Tussuards. They were transported everywhere by Limousine; Bethany loved that. Well she would have loved it even more had it have been PINK…her favourite colour.
Another exciting adventure for Bethany was a trip organised by the Hospices to an airfield in Norfolk. Whilst there she took a flight in a light aircraft, also a ride on a hovercraft and most exciting of all for her, a very fast ride in a Maserati - how cool was that! Bethany is a thrill seeker so this was sheer delight for her.
Bethany would not be as well as she is today were it not for her parents sheer dedication in making every effort to keep her well. Endless chest physiotherapy, suction etc. bi-pap and cough assist too. When possible Bethany attends the local children's hospice which she loves, and they love having her. Bethany always brightens people's days with her endless chatter and singing.
While at one session at the hospice she even made a CD of her singing, which she gave to her nanna's for Christmas. Diva in the making!!
News Update
Unfortunately Bethany is not very well at the moment. She has
been poorly since November but became worse mid December resulting in twelve
days in hospital suffering with pneumonia. Her left lung collapsed and is taking
forever to recover. Luckily Beth was able to spend Christmas at home, but was
sadly re-admitted soon after. Bethany came home again New Years Eve but by January
8th was re-admitted again. Everything possible is being done to aid her recovery,
but it is a slow process. Bethany's Mum and Dad spend all their time by her
bedside willing her to get better, as we all do. Her brother Ryan, misses her
dreadfully and cannot wait for her to be at home. It would be lovely for Bethany
to receive messages from anyone who feels they would like to wish her a speedy
recovery, either by means of the guest book or by card/letter to the address
located on the donations page.
Who's
a big girl now then!
Tuesday
the 18th April 2006 was a great milestone for our Bethany. It was her first
day at school full-time.
Bethany loves school and couldn't wait to go back there following the Easter
Holiday break. Awake by 5.30am and raring to go, so excited she made herself
feel queasy.
Bethany looked so grown up sporting her first school uniform, so naturally Mum
took photos, which can be seen in the Gallery section.
It was a long day for Bethany but taken in her stride as usual. Nothing fazes
this one!
Tragedy averted by quick responding Dad!
On Friday the 15th of October en route home following a short break away, Bethany choked and stopped breathing. Thanks to her Dad, Kevin's quick reaction with mouth to mouth, she was brought back from the brink. Thanks also to a passing motorist, who called the emergency services,,whose response was very quick, Bethany was soon back to her normal bright bubbly self. The whole scenario was very frightening for the whole family, especially Ryan, as he stood in the rain by the roadside while everyone involved worked on his beloved sister. Bethany always takes everything in her stride and the fact that she has been rushed down the motorway with flashing blue lights and sirens twice now, she just ignores it all. Bethany spent one night in hospital for observation, but insisted on attending school on the Monday, can't keep this kid down for long!!!

Bethany is doing very well at the moment and has recently celebrated her fourth birthday. She is now back at school after the summer, which she is very happy about, as she loves school. Bethany missed attending school, but was lucky enough to spend time at the Children's Hospice, which again she enjoys. She gets to bake cakes, have music sessions and go on little trips.
